Mothers Day?

I'm not celebrating the day even the kids call me Mama. I'm not celebrating the day even I have one inside my heart.

But, on that day, since my 1st son was in kindy school I receive one card or craft made from him and the legacy giving the card or craft from my sons continues until this year .. I guess so..??(because my 2nd son is in his final kindy years at school).

For me, Mother's day is neither a Malay culture nor an Islamic way of life. As far as I remember when I was young there were no mother's day celebrations. The only celebrations we have are birthdays and anniversary my mama and papa.

I do keep all my sons artworks. They are very creative expressing their creativeness :) I guess I can hold an art show from their artwork collection in the art gallery. If Allah's will, I will...

To test my husband on the day, I urge him to get me something special for me. What do you think his response? "You are my wife. If there is a Wife Day for sure i will get something special for you." Hahhaha.. I suppose so.. That makes me love him more :)

Conclusion is NO celebration on mothers day. I'm happy and grateful to have you guys!! All Praises to Allah.

How to soak my dear eldest son?

Dear my 1st son,
I wish I have a special turbo washing machine. Put some bleach and soak you all night long. When the day comes I wash you strongly like a turbulent seas. And Finally the cycle ends it becomes calm like the tranquil waters of the lake. The 'translucent you' enables me to see through inner you. So that I know how to induce you in doing something benefit for your own good. Totally confident in my hand that you will carry out my orders like a son honour his mother words.
You are my sunshine You are my moon You are my everything in this world and Thereafter. O Allah, please give me strength and guide me in bringing up my children especially my 1st one who is in the transition from young to teenager.
Love, Mama.

I Love ......

...............................................................steamed pomfret.

It's a simple dish but I steamed it on a family occasion. There's a few reason why the dish becomes very significant dish to me.
  • When I was young, my mom cooked the pomfret dish only during the fasting month, Ramadhan Mubarak. So, when I look at the fish I feel that it was fasting month.
  • The fish is very costly. My mom will make sure every family member will get one pomfret. She fork out some from her saving just to have a pomfret for every plate on the table. Me?? One pomfret for four people. HAHAHAAA... Not because I can't afford to have one pomfret for one person. I am trying to instill the sharing and appreciation values among us. Off Course, Both ways (my mom and me) represent and potray the high appreciation values in our cooking. I always remember how my mom had lavish parties on our table during the fasting month. How I miss that..!!

To steam the pomfret you need to have:
  1. Fresh Pomfret
  2. Young ginger
  3. Garlic
  4. Coriander leave
  5. Salt and pepper
  6. Tomato (optional)
  7. Carrot (optional)
  8. A steamer / A Microwave
Malaysian named this fish Ikan Bawal Putih
Bruneian named this fish Ikan Duai = BND25/kg
